Picnic at the Park

Saturdays are difficult. I know that is the day most families have outings.  Unfortunately, Claudy works Saturdays so it's hard to squeeze in fun times.

By the time Claudy gets home, Carter has his bedtime about an hour later.  That doesn't leave much wiggle room.  Plus, Claudy is usually exhausted.

But, I hate seeing the summer slip away.  So, I planned chicken salad sandwiches, chips and cantaloupe, had it all packed and ready when Claudy got home.  All he had to do was jump in the car.

We drove up Provo Canyon and went to one of their lovely parks.  I will miss the mountains when we move.  It's cooler up there, has beautiful views and has such nice parks.

It was so nice.  It was just an enjoyable, short excursion and it was fun.  Basically taking Carter anywhere is fun. We love watching him explore.
And another good thing, we FINALLY found a food he likes: cantaloupe.  Go figure!

As you can tell, he liked the picnic.  Nothing like fresh air.  Sure, it's work to pack up all of the food you'll need instead of eating it at home, but I think picnics are so nice and worthwhile.  They're relaxing and fresh air always does you good.
There was a pretty, little stream that meandered nearby.  Claudy took Carter to see it and he was quite curious at the sound of it.  I of course, was busy snapping pictures, and shouting out directions to "not get too close!".
Great views!
And one of me since there are hardly any of those (rightfully so when I haven't put on any makeup that day--YIKES!).

Yay for Saturday outings.  Hopefully we can continue to think of fun little activities to make our Saturdays more enjoyable.

If you have any ideas of fun, short things to do with a baby--let me know!

  1. That sounds so fun! We'll have to go have a picnic soon. As for ideas to do with a baby, I mentioned this on facebook but the other day we took Eleanor to the pet store and she loved watching the birds, rats, hamsters, and fish all move around. It's like a free zoo!
